Autistic consulting
Jake Akers
After being involved with various PBT events, Jake officially joined PBT's team as an Autistic Consultant in March of 2023! He is an Autistic business owner and resides in Buda, Texas. He owns and operates A Snowball’s Chance in downtown Buda by City Park. Jake was diagnosed Autistic in his mid teens.
Jake is very active in his community. He is a board member for the Buda Chamber of Commerce, a sitting member of the Buda Downtown Historic Committee, president of the Buda Downtown Merchants Group, and president of his charity, The Big Little Ripple.
Jake is very active working with his local Autistic community and often assists with giving a different perspective to non-neurodivergent thinkers and/or people wanting additional insight into neurodiversity. He has encouraged and assisted young Autistic entrepreneurs in starting and operating little businesses. He continues to offer these entrepreneurs support and makes donations to many special needs programs and groups.
Consultation services
Individual/single family consultations
We offer consultations for individual clients and families. These services can include: observations in a specific setting, consulting with providers or support staff, formal recommendations, and debriefing/feedback sessions with caregivers.
The goal of our autistic consultation services is to provide additional, unique insight and guidance from a neurodivergent mind. Autistic adults can offer lived experiences and first-hand knowledge related to systemic barriers, accommodations, modifications, and strategies. We hope this service will increase understanding amongst providers and caregivers and increase accessibility, autonomy, and appreciation for autistic clients.
